| Other Info | Irregular Joe's Song Parade (a solo singer/songwriter showcase) will be at Confluence on Wednesday August 26th at 7 pm. Zoo, a local singer/songwriter who carefully crafts music and lyrics into charming little pop vignettes, will be hosting the first ever Irregular Joes' Song Parade on Wednesday August 26th at 7pm. He's invited 3 other talented writer/performers to share the stage with him, and they'll be performing their songs in the round. It will be an intimate evening of music not to be missed. The hallowed coffee shop tradition of giving solo singer/songwriters a forum for their art continues with the Irregular Joes' Song Parade at Confluence Coffee. Learn more about the artists below. Zoo Zoo began writing music and playing piano as a teenager. He studied classical piano in college, and has gone on to learn the other instruments of rock'n roll. In the studio he can play all the instruments himself, and is finishing up his first major release where he's done just that. "Open All Night" will be in stores by the first of the year. Live, he jumps between piano and guitar, and might be seen playing solo bass or mandolin, as well. There could be a harmonica or a melodica there, too. But always there are songs. It could be the a clever lyrics, or the tunes that stick in your mind, or the intensity that sticks in your heart, but Zoo creates memorable performances. Whether he is playing solo, or is with his one of the incarnations of his band Joe Next Door, if you come to one of Zoo's shows to listen, there will be something to hear. Clay HowardI am a singer/songwriter/guitarist from Greensboro, NC with over 20 years of experience. I currently sing in the band, stratocruiser , as well as in the acoustic duo, Clay and Benjy and as a solo acoustic act. To learn more about me- check out the About Me page…I have also posted numerous acoustic demos for your listening pleasure…hopefully I will flesh these out one day. By the way- I would love to come play your coffeehouse, bar, private party, just about anywhere- just give me a shout Joe the FiremanJoe The Fireman emerged as a performer and songwriter from the relatively dignified debris of Industrial Soldier, a Blacksburg VA band that was fully nourished on the college radio of the early 80's: Replacements, Black Flag, Violent Femmes, Minutemen, R.E.M., etc. All of these and many more show up in the DNA of JTF; although the social commentary and disenfranchisement of the punk days softened, the melodic sense and more oblique lyrical stylings have a solid footing in the unique original material of JTF today. After years of the pulling and pushing and stretching of the workhorse live band days, touring in the Southeast and releasing a 7" single, the fallow fields called, and it was time to let time and the times write the songs. Joe The Fireman’s current repertoire consists of material spanning two decades of song-slinging experience and thousands of miles of geographical distance; photographs and dialogue in not-so-familiar frames. With whispers and echoes of heartful tunesmiths such as Neil Young, Paul Westerberg, and Mark Eitzel, Joe the Fireman wants to challenge your sensibilities and expectations of the singer-slash-songwriter and make you feel at home and away - wherever you are. |
