**Affective 09/2209 Confluence will no longer be booking hardcore shows. We apologize for the disappointment.
Well, you've come to the right place. Confluence has one of the best music venues in the Winston Salem area (North Carolina). We regularly host live music at Confluence every Friday & Saturday night and often have music during the week as well.
We want to support local artists and we are looking for uniquely gifted artists and bands who would like to play at Confluence. Our customers love a wide array of music genre's. We simply ask that all lyrics are positive in nature and that your stage presence creates a positive atmosphere. No vulgarity through your stage presence or lyrics.
We evaluate events based on thoughtfulness and creativity as well as appropriateness to our vision and mission. If you meet the following requirements below, complete the booking request form at the bottom of the page and our manager will be in contact with you as soon as possible. Confluence books out the schedule months in advance, so because we receive numerous proposals your patience and understanding is appreciated.
We also like to double, triple book our nights with music. If there is a date currently on our schedule you have in mind with a band you'd mix well with, please note on the booking request below.

Our Contract: To be considered, you must be able to meet the following requirements.
** Don't skip reading this. If you ask a question that is already answered in the contract below, you will not be considered for a date. All questions must be answered.
--- Yes No 1. Positive Influence: All bands that inquire must seek to create a positive influence through their lyrics. Lyrics must not have any vulgar language and should create a positive atmosphere for the audience.
--- 2 hours 1.5 hours 1 hour 30 minutes 2. Two hours of music**: Bands should be able to provide 2 hours of live music. **If you are unable to provide two hours, please tell us up front how long you can play. It will be our own discretion whether to double book the night with another artist. You are welcome to play non-stop, or to play two different sets and take a 10-15 minute break in between sets.
--- Yes No 3. Fill the time commitment: Whether we have 5 or 100+ people, we expect you to fill the entire time commitment that has been agreed to- no matter what.
--- Yes No 4. Good stage presence: Confluence is not your garage and we expect you to put on an excellent show, NOT just a rehearsal. Just because we provide an intimate coffee shop atmosphere, does not mean that your audience is going to want to see an unprofessional show. Our customers and your guests are expecting you to perform to the best of your abilities. Putting on an excellent show is a requirement of being asked back to play.
--- Yes No 5. On Time: If you cannot be on time for load time, then don't fill out this booking request. Load in time for solo artists are 45 mins before start time. Load in for full band is 1 hour and 15 minutes before start time. Music begins at the following times: Weekdays: 7 pm, Friday: 8 pm, Saturday: 8:30 pm (unless otherwise agreed upon).
--- Yes No 6. Get good directions: For those who are not familiar with the area, we are hard to find. Please take the time to follow our detailed directions on our website. GPS's and Mapquest have trouble locating us, so check our website for the best directions. Being late for load in time because you did not look at where we are located is not acceptable.
--- Yes No 7. Not a cover band: Bands may do some cover songs during the show, but no more than 40% of the songs should be covers.
--- Yes No 8. Website: Must have an artist web site or unique page on social networking site
--- Yes No 9. Full CD or Demo: Bands have a full length or demo cd
--- Yes No 10. Concert Dates: Band must have several concert dates on the calendar 3 months ahead or 3 months behind.
--- Yes No 11. Compensation: 75% of our shows are compensated through tip based performances. Although we would like to, our financial status at this time, does not allow us to provide any guarantees to artists. However, Confluence will provide a GIGANTIC tip jar and a staff person will communicate during your introduction that we expect our guests to support the artists through the tip jar and all of the money will be the artists. We expect our artists to interact with the audience. If you expect the audience to tip you for your music, you should choose to provide a excellent show for the audience. The better the experience and the more you interact, the more your tips will be. If you choose not to interact, your music will become elevator music and will be tuned out, thus your tip jar will be tuned out as well. *** Cover charge: Confluence is able to book two weekend and two weekday shows per month that require a cover charge. To provide a cover charge Confluence requires at least 3 bands. The cover will be $1 per local band (2 hours away), and $2 per touring/traveling band. The split will be (20/80- Confluence / Bands). Confluence will provide a door person. Please read our GUIDELINES for Cover Charge Shows
--- Yes No We must have a cover charge to perform.
--- Yes No 12. Support Confluence: Bands must provide some promotion from stage about our drinks and food. If you'd like us to be here in the future so you can have a great venue to play at, our guests must support us in buying our products.
--- Yes No 13. Promotion: We rely heavily on the individual bands ability to promote. Bands should send out emails, Myspace & Facebook messages. Bands should post flyers and spread the word via word of mouth. If you don't plan to promote the show, don't expect to get a date on our calendar.
--- Yes No 14. ZERO Tolerance: Confluence is a campus that is alcohol and drug free and we have a zero tolerance policy. Smoking (cigarettes) is allowed outside. Bands should help to manage any concern.
--- Yes No 15. Sound Level: We love loud music!!! However, if you are playing on our main stage upstairs, the band must stay at a level that allows our staff to take orders from our customers. For bands upstairs, we rarely have to ask, but if we ask you to turn the level down, please respect our wishes. ** Screamo bands will always play in Confluence UNDERGROUND and this does not apply to them.
