Confluence was born out of a desire of The River Church to use the space we had been given as a place to bless the community. From the outpouring of support and encouragement we have received in the last few weeks, I think that blessing has been achieved. We would like to continue this ministry for a longer time but it does not look like that is possible at this point.

We would like to thank all of you for being part of this experience of community that has been Confluence. Without you this would not have been possible. We believe this is an amazing community to be part of and our church is excited to continue to be part of what God is doing in this area.

We have built relationships with many of you and great friendships. Our hope is that these will continue. We still believe in the vision of Confluence to bless this community and see it prosper. As a church, we plan to continue to be part of that vision and ask you to do the same. It all starts with simply loving your neighbor as God loves you. As time rolls forward, we plan to continue to see you in the community and plan to continue to build relationships together.

Thank you again for all of your support, business, and encouragement over the last 15 months. Please come out and join us this Friday evening as we celebrate what God has done through this place.

As many of you know Confluence is more than just a coffee shop. It has truly become a place where our community comes to live life together. We often say Confluence is where coffee and life collide and over the course of the last year we have seen this take place as people from all walks of life have come together around a good cup of coffee for concerts, meetings, movies, the playground, studies, or just a good conversation. This was our hope in starting Confluence, that our community would have such a spot where people can gather and feel part of something bigger than themselves.

Some of you also know that Confluence is not a for profit business. We are a non profit coffee shop/community center owned by The River Church. Confluence was born out of a desire of our church to see this community thrive. We knew this type of place was needed in the community and decided to turn our church building into a place for the community and not for ourselves. This has been a huge blessing to us and we hope it has been to this community.

We are writing this today to let you know that though we believe that this ministry has been hugely successful, it is financially difficult. Confluence has operated at a loss each of the months we have been open. To be completely honest we are losing around $3,000 a month. It has never been our goal to make money with Confluence; however we do need to cover the costs.

We believe that Confluence is needed in this community. We believe in the vision to provide a place that allows people and businesses in this community to thrive. For us that comes out what we read in God’s Word in Jeremiah 29. We also realize that Confluence is bigger than just us who operate it. We believe Confluence belongs to this community. For that reason, we are sharing with you our current state financially. We want to give you an opportunity to respond before it is too late for Confluence to remain.

We are currently planning to either scale back our operating hours or close Confluence on Monday Oct. 19th. Starting that day we will be regrouping with the hope to reopen Confluence as soon as realistically possible. During that time we will be raising the money and building an appropriate operating model that is required to keep Confluence open on an ongoing basis. However if things do not improve we will most likely be forced to close at the end of October. For Confluence to remain open, we need your help.

We are a Non Profit Community Outreach Coffee Shop. We want to provide this place for this community; however without some outside help that will not be possible. We are asking you to consider being part of allowing this awesome place for our community to continue. Attention Local Artists & Craftsmen!

Come out and Celebrate Fall @ Confluence Coffee’s Fall Festival on Saturday Oct 17th (11 am-3 pm)!

We are currently looking for talented Artisan/Craftsmen vendors in the surrounding community to share their talents with us, to showcase, and sell their items in our Artisan/Craft Area for The Fall Festival this year~

We are currently accepting vendor applications to show on Saturday, October 17, 2009.

If interested, read the general information below and fill out the contact form below. Ann Owens our Artisan/Craftsmen coordinator will be in contact with you shortly via email or phone.

General Information:

• 10×10 Art/Craft Vendor booth rentals are only $20 !!
• To help out each Artisan we are accepting/screening applications and only allowing one one trade per an art/craft (ex. one potter, one basket-maker, etc)
• Each accepted applicant will be responsible for bringing their own needed materials…such as display needs, tent if applicable, char(s), etc.  (Confluence is unable to supply tables, etc)
• Craftsmen are required to be set up, and ready to sell their wares to the public guests by 10:30 am..
• Festival begins @ 11am- and ends @ 3:00pm
• Applicants are requested to stay throughout the festivals’ entirety (unless otherwise Pre-approved, mentioned, etc)

Last year we had great attendance and are expecting a bigger crowd this year with more advertisement, and publication levels, so come out and join us! Confluence’s Fall Festival will include bounce houses, pumpkins, pumpkin craft/painting, and much more.

We hope to provide a great opportunity for local Artisans in our area, with this upcoming festival, and appreciate your support of Confluence Coffee!

*Please note–At this time we are only opening The Artisan/Craftsman area to Art/Craft fields with hand-made,crafted art pieces. Please no chain-business, private professionals, or other fields at this time -Thank you!

Now open on Sundays

Confluence is proud to announce that we will be open from 1-8 pm on Sundays to serve this community. To kick off this Sunday we have invited three great artists for FREE entertainment. Austin Simmons, Zach Tilley, & Rachel Correll will be live from 4:30-7:30 this Sunday night. Remember you can bring your bulletin/program from church on Sundays to receive 10% off your drink order (valid only on Sundays).

Pumpkins are coming!!

It may seem a little early to be talking about Pumpkins, but October is right around the corner. The Confluence Pumpkin Patch opens to the public on Tuesday October 6th, so mark your calendars. We’d like to ask our Confluence Customer Family for a few things:

• If you purchased your pumpkins from Confluence last year, we ask you to do so again.
• However, if you didn’t buy your pumpkin from Confluence last year, we’d like to consider two things: We know you could probably go to another Big Name shop like Walmart or Food Lion and get a pumpkin for a few cents cheaper, however when you choose to purchase your pumpkins from Confluence you are supporting the vision of Confluence to create a place for this community to do life. Secondly, you are supporting a local farmer in Greensboro NC.

If you’re like us, we count the days down until Fall. Unlike some other coffee shops we serve Pumpkin Spice Latte’s, Freezers, Cappuccino’s ALL YEAR Round. So if you’ve been craving some Pumpkin Spice drinks, now is the time!
